Through Books Unbanned, The Seattle Public Library has made its digital collection available to teens facing book bans and censorship across America. Nearly 15,000 young people from all 50 states have signed up for the digital card and have checked out more than 730,000 digital materials, and those numbers continue to grow. Books and Resources

Donor support provides more than 100,000 new books and materials each year, 1 in 3 new items at the library. Last year, 12.7 million items were checked out by 329,000 library users. From digital materials to physical books, from delivery by the Bookmobile or a visit to a neighborhood branch, there's something for everyone at the library!

Raising a Reader

Last year, more than 1,400 children ages 18 months to 5 years benefited from Raising a Reader, a program that partners the library with early learning centers and home care providers to support low-income and immigrant families in building strong reading practices and cultures in their homes. This encourages healthy brain development, family bonding, and increased literacy skills, all proven elements for lifetime success!

Where it's needed most

Last year, donors helped the library provide more than 3,500 programs for all ages, including Homework Help to 1,100 students, 13,000 books for kids to read during the summer, 580 one-on-one business and legal consults, AND SO MUCH MORE!
